Crowns In Aventura, FL
Dental crowns are tooth-colored caps fitted tightly over an existing tooth that is broken or has significant decay, discoloration, or cracks. They are made to look exactly like your natural teeth, both in color and shape. Before a dental crown is placed, any decay is removed and the tooth is cleaned. Then our seasoned dentist, Dr. David Bistritz, will cement the ultra-thin dental crown over your tooth. This not only covers over any unsightly imperfections, but it also prevents further tooth decay or damage by sealing the damaged part. That’s why the decay must be removed first — to prevent any recurrence of the problem. Dental crowns last a long time, providing both protection and a seamless aesthetic. What To Expect
To create a custom crown, Dr. Bistritz first prepares the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel, then takes digital X-rays and impressions of the tooth to be sent to the dental laboratory. A temporary crown can be placed on the tooth while the fixed, custom crown is being made. When the fixed crown is returned to the office, Dr. Bistritz will carefully fit and set it on the tooth. Dr. Bistritz may adjust the crown for a more comfortable fit.
Treatment Aftercare
Some patients may experience temporary discomfort or tooth sensitivity, but most patients do not usually have any pain after a crown is placed. With proper home care and regular dental cleanings and exams, a crown may last for 10 – 40 years, depending on the material of the crown. In some cases, a cavity or infection may develop under the tooth, which may require a root canal or other procedure.
Insurance Coverage
If the crown is considered medically necessary, dental insurance may cover some or most of the procedure, so our office will check with your insurance to determine your coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Estimated costs, payment options, and financing available through our office can be discussed during your consultation.
Strengthen And Protect
A crown can be used to protect a broken or decayed tooth, as well as hide a discoloration or cosmetic flaw. To fix the appearance or health of a single tooth, call our office to set up an appointment to find out if a dental crown is a good option for your needs.
